Congratulations to our Welsh archer-athletes who competed at the Run Archery Series Finals on Saturday.
Five Welsh athletes have taken part in the run-archery National Series events this summer: Sandra Davies, Richard Smith, Sue Wolfendale, Mike Woodfield and Jake Irwin.
At Saturday's final, eight men and eight women, including Sue and Mike, took their accumulated points to Harlequin Bowmen for the deciding sprint and 4k races of the series.
The sun came out to make uncomfortable running conditions, but competition was fierce and some great times were achieved. The relative merits of 'speed vs. shooting' were evident as the lead changed hands several times in all races. The day ended with a fun 'mixed relay' which went entirely against the form-books!
When the final points were totted up, Sue achieved the bronze medal for the Female national series and Mike was seventh in the Open.
Mike has been selected for the GB team to compete at the Run Archery European Cup at Wroclaw in Poland in October. We wish him and all his colleagues the very best!
