Welsh national records are maintained for all Target rounds recognised by ArcheryGB. The current Welsh Target records can be browsed via the 'Information' tab at the top of this page. The record scores also show the number of 10s (or Golds, or 5s) in brackets, where this information is available.
Welsh records are recognised in the following age categories: Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, Under 21, Senior, 50+ and 60+. For all the Senior rounds (e.g. WA1440G, Western etc), there are records for every age category, whereas for shorter rounds records are only recognised in age categories up to the age restriction for the round (e.g. Metric V - Under 12 only; Western 40 - Under 12, Under 14 and Under 15, etc).
The new Under 15 category (from October 2022) will only be maintained for those few rounds where the Junior archer will move to a longer round at Under 16 level (see below*). Under 15 will therefore not be introduced across the whole range of rounds. However the new Under 21 category will be applied to all the Senior rounds.
Archers' ages and eligibilities must be calculated in accordance with the current ArcheryGB Rules.
An archer may claim multiple records simultaneously: for example, a Junior archer Under 16 could also claim the corresponding Under 18, Under 21 and Senior records. Similarly, a 60+ archer could also claim the corresponding 50+ and Senior records.
The Target records on the WAA website may be filtered by round name or by bowstyle and age category. If the record for the round and age category you are looking for is not there, either that age category is ineligible to shoot the round or the record is currently unclaimed.
To claim a Welsh national record, an archer must be affiliated to the Welsh Archery Association through an Associated Club. Rounds must be shot at an Open Record Status competition under World Archery or ArcheryGB Rules. A Record Claim Form is available to download at the foot of this page.
Completed Claim Forms should be emailed to the Target Records Officer within 28 days of the tournament, together with a copy of the official final results of the competition. A certificate will be issued to the archer for each record ratified.
Certificates will be issued by email in pdf format.
January 2025: The Welsh records on this website have been updated to show the number of 10s and Golds achieved by the record-holder (where this information is available). New claimants should therefore ensure that their Xs, 10s and Golds are shown on the official results they are submitting. If the record claim is for e.g. the distances of a WA1440, or half of a double round, when the 10s are often not shown on the official results, please would archers additionally submit a photo of their signed scoresheet, showing Xs/10s/Golds. Thank you. SW
March 2026: Men's record categories have been renamed 'Open'. SW
August 2026: The Xs and 10s for Metric records have now been updated to reflect the recent change in WA/AGB scoring procedures. Xs and 10s are now shown separately, so where these scores are available they are now shown as 'Xs' (inner 10s) followed by '10s' (outer 10s). SW
